Music Industry Hidden Business Plan

This is so true about music industry’s latest boom from marketing guru Seth Godin:

The mediocre record companies, mediocre A&R guys and the mediocre acts are struggling to stay in place. They’re nervous that it all might fall apart. So they wait. They wait for ‘proof’ that this new idea is going to work, or at least won’t prove fatal. (It’s the impulse to wait that made them mediocre in the first place, of course).

I’ve posted my thoughts here before that independent bands got into viral from oh so long ago before those fat executives said eureka this is the new music business model.

Just because these mediocre record executives are record executives then musician should listen to their slow thinking, like a boss with ‘hidden’ business plan says, no worries i’ve planned this in my mind.
