Merriam-Webster Word of The Year

Seriously, w00t (spelled w zero zero t) named as Merriam-Webster Word of The Year (heck, where have i been??). The famous Massachusetts dictionary company describe w00t as expressing joy (it could be after a triumph, or for no reason at all); similar in use to the word “yay”.

Other 2 nominations were Facebook and Conundrum. I remember the second word came through my Gmail webclips as word of the day, in any day, at Dictionary.com, while Facebook word usage example is: I am going to ‘facebook’ the party on Friday so everyone knows about it (in verb: To create an event entry on Facebook).

From their archives, you can also find 2006’s WOTY was ‘truthiness’ (beat the word google), 2005’s was ‘integrity’, and 2004’s was ‘blog’.

You might want to check the complete result at Webster’s site here, and also you can check out How does a word get into a Merriam-Webster dictionary.

Awesome.
