I just tweaked the song page in this blog as I now use Soundcloud to host the songs. The thing i like about Soundcloud is their pretty widget, and by far has a fairly useful free account. Their widget is customizable, and its waveform graphic is so cool!

The widgets are embeddable too, so if you have a band, this could become a very useful tool for you to spread your songs across the internet. Ask your fans to embed them on their blogs or social media account!

I probably will add more songs in the future, and thinking of hosting some other audio files too in Soundcloud. Now you can also connect with me in Soundcloud, my profile page is here. Follow me, then i’ll follow you back!

In the mean time have a look at my song page.

Cheers!

As his career grew, David Byrne, the Talking Heads founder went from playing CBGB to Carnegie Hall. He asks: Does the venue make the music? From outdoor drumming to Wagnerian operas to arena rock, he explores how context has pushed musical innovation.

The idea is to explain how musicians are constantly challenged to produce music that is able to adapt into various environments. This actually foster the innovation of music as musicians are able to make the most of places, that Byrne described as ‘accoustically the worst places for music concerts’ (i agree wholeheartedly), eg: basket ball halls, sport stadiums, etc. From music created for open air in Africa to popular music that are fit perfectly to the iPod experiences, Byrne gives simple examples on how music can work differently in different playground. Moreover Byrne define this as “Social Situation”, not “Musical Situation”, which is spot on and add to the testimony, that music is influenced by life and it influenced life back.

Most of the slides and explanations are a bit technical, but i think with Byrne’s clear vision, this presentation is not only enjoyable for music producers, sound engineers & musicians, but also to those that are not music nerds.

Well, sort of. No tapes involved so i don’t know what to call this.

Anyway, @iing from Wadezig asked me to make a mixtape (again, sort of) for Wadezig’s website (Monday Mix). I know Wadezig from my times in Bandung several years ago, and i think they have done a good job running apparel business. Wadezig is a pretty cool company.

Mind you, these songs are my ALL TIME FAVORITE. So: (1) It’s easy to compile, since these songs are always on my playlist. (2) It’s much easier to compile music without trying to be cool, you know, try to compile music as weird or as rare as possible (that’s sooooo last decade ).

We can discuss any music i’ve been listening in the past 25 years, but if i have to sort them into 10 songs, then there they are!

Hint: below the tracklist, now you can jump to Wadezig’s website and listen!

There are many cool dude with girls scene but these ‘cool dude chased by girls’ scene is my favorite. There’s no better way (it’s in rockstar’s skill package i suppose) to show off rockstar status to public broadcasts, i mean hoping that you can show off how you can shoot a long drug line is stupid if it’s not get banned. However, i found 3 most interesting scenes on below videos and i would like to give you my personal favors.

I think the loser between the three is Incubus. I mean, there are 5 of them and they’re all running away from these chicks. They even jump off a bridge down to river to get over it. Dude, wtf were in your mind?

The second ‘winner’ is surely Rob Dyrdek. I mean, he runs away but at least he manage to take all girls by himself. And, he rides skateboard. So he’s cool but still can’t match my winner.

Yes, my winner is Fred Durst. Simply because he’s in control. He control himself and the girls, he took them one by one, and in the end they get FD to the stage. What a better way to go to a show but with dozens of girls at your back?

I’m a big fan of Evan Dando’s Lemonheads. I play hardcore metal in my music days, but i’m also a big fan of acoustic guitar. Everytime i need songs to play on my acoustic guitar, Lemonheads songs were always my choice to play on the first set of songs i play. However, Lemonheads were just released a Collector Edition set which contains classics like My Drug Buddy (dude i love this song), the cover of Mrs. Robinson plus 10 bonus demo tracks and a DVD contains LIVE Videos and the band having fun. Oh yes you can imagine this, well it might be lazy fun but hey it’s The Lemonheads!

I have yet get the copy but i surely will which also a must to all Lemonheads fans. To remind us to the cool Evan Dando and The Gang, below is a video from classic song It’s a Shame About Ray.
