We use more than 200 signals, including out patented PageRank algorithm, to examine the entire link structure of the web and determine which pages are most important. We then conduct hypertext-matching analysis to the specific search being conducted. By combining overall importance and query-specific relevance, we’re able to put the most relevant and reliable results first.

Yahoo! posted Yahoo! S.E Asia releases study on Internet trends and media consumptions on their company blog. The study is conducted in Vietnam, Indonesia, The Philippines and Malaysia. What isn’t surprising me on the key findings is that

Indonesia, the largest and fastest growing online market in Southeast Asia, has recorded a jump from 22% (2009) to 48% (2010)

Given the population, it’s obvious Indonesia will lead this. However:

In Malaysia, online music and video has attracted significant interest with 51% uploading/downloading music files online and 54 % watching video clips online. Over a third of users also play games online – dominated by younger males.

Not clear how many Indonesians are also do the same compare with these Malaysian youths, but more than 50% consuming music and videos online? Goodness me, that is massive!

If you playing around with proxy stuffs without knowing wtf proxy is, you might end up to a problem like me. Suddenly, my Firefox rejecting to connect to the internet. What a frustration seconds. However, i found out that a proxy app i tried out earlier set my Firefox’s proxy to ‘manual’.

To fix it out, simply click on (updated by reader Red on comment below) Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings. Then simply tick a ‘No Proxy’.

That’s it, enjoy Firefox and the internet.

I just did, it was a super old account that was filled with anything but spam emails.

Preparation: Make sure that no email that you need to keep in the account and backup your address book.

Now the process, which is as simple as this:

1. Go to https://edit.yahoo.com/config/delete_user and login use the account that you want to delete.
2. Fill in the required information including your login password and a case sensitive spam captcha (quite confusing sometimes).
3. Done.

From the deletion request page, the deletion of the account will be finished for about 90 days or less, although as soon as you push the delete button, the account is automatically deactivated.

The President of RI has launched online book program for students. The government acquired the copyrights of those books from the writers and publishers, and it will continue to acquire the copyrights of more books next year.

However by the time i wrote this, the link to the download site is broken (i posted a comment letting The Jakarta Post know but not sure if it’s moderated- my comment was approved).

Furthermore, Minister of National Education Bambang Sudibyo called on local governments to help the education sector by downloading the books, printing them and providing them for free to the students in their area.

Although i believe this is a good idea and thank the government for the initiative, i have a technical question: Why print it and who pays for the cost?

I’ve used CoverItLive twice to liveblogged 2 events back in February. One was a Saresehan (it’s like a small seminar with small audiences) and a live music.

I will highlight the Saresehan event, as it was a success in terms of the Live Blogging introduction to the local music community. Knowing that less Indonesian music community was accustomed with this sort of online live event coverage (back then, people mostly responded like, live blogging? WTF? Is it like a LIVE chat?
