A.J. Jacobs: The Year of Living Biblically

I first acknowledge this through Tim Ferris’ blog entitled What Happens When an Agnostic Follows the Bible Literally for One Year? Not only because i am Christian, but also because the interview stunned me. I became curious about the book and the writer A.J. Jacobs but then it was just lost from my mind until today, my subscription to We Show send me the excerpt of A.J.’s speech at First Congregational Church of Berkeley and Cody’s Books which held at Oct 24th, 2007. The show was originally covered by fora.tv, so i went to Fora.tv, signed up for a free account and get this video below.

From the page at Fora.tv:

A.J. Jacobs discusses The Year of Living Biblically.

The Year of Living Biblically answers the question: What if a modern-day American followed every single rule in the Bible as literally as possible. Not just the famous rules – the Ten Commandments and Love Thy Neighbor (though certainly those). But the hundreds of oft-ignored ones: don’t wear clothes of mixed fibers. Grow your beard. Stone adulterers. A.J. Jacobs’ experiment is surprising, informative, timely and funny. It is both irreverent and reverent. It seeks to discover what’s good in the Bible and what is maybe not so relevant to 21st century life. And it will make you see the Good Book with new eyes. Thou shalt not put it down.

I raised by a fanatic protestant family and i quit go to Church for like 10 years. But since i met my girlfriend (now my wife) i am back to church and went to Chatolic church regularly. And i feel much better. Now we go to church every Sunday & we hold morning and night prays and but we never try to follow the Bible. Even though since 10 years ago i read like crazy that ends my young eyes need to be covered by glasses: I can’t imagine myself reading the Bible as a complete concept and live like it suggests me. After seeing this, i think Bible is not bad at all.
